Lowly, Small, and Hidden

Public, Glorious, and Eternal

I remember in the 1980s, when Brother Lee was leading the new way in Taiwan, he once said to the serving ones of the Taiwan Gospel Book Room, "You are super full-timers." I think this was Brother Lee's highest affirmation and encouragement to the saints serving in the bookroom. My eldest brother, Brother Paul Wu, was one of them.

We grew up in a family that loved the Lord. Our mother's experience of the Lord's salvation was especially deep, and so she led our whole family to closely follow the footsteps of the flock. Once, when the church in Taipei was leading the saints to offer, in that era of extreme material scarcity, our mother offered all that she had—that is, her seven children—completely; this laid the foundation of our being blessed. Yucheng was the eldest son in the family, destined to receive manifold blessing. Because of the Lord's mercy and the nurturing in the church life, from treasuring this New Testament ministry he came to be constituted with it, then to be one with the ministry, and even to become a spreader of the New Testament ministry.

This service, which appears lowly, small, and hidden, has before God a glorious, weighty, public, and eternal value. Today the hymns at hand, the Recovery Version of the Bible, the Collected Works of Watchman Nee, the Collected Works of Witness Lee, the Life-studies, the electronic version of the Bible, the publications, the children's picture books, the various audio and video books, the basic subscriptions… all of these have become riches we can enjoy at any time. Thank you, eldest brother; thank you, brothers and sisters of the bookroom.

Because my eldest brother was a consecrated person, wholly faithful toward the Lord whom he loved, and because of his being equipped and perfected in many ways, in the service life of the church he always took the lead to practice, as in the purchase and building of the Xinji Building. During the several offerings in that time, my eldest brother and Brother Lin Hong (林鴻), who coordinated together in the same meeting hall, were the first to lay out their all completely, so as to inspire all the saints to fully follow. Gathering here today, we testify that it was filled with the love of the daughters of Jerusalem.

In serving the church in Taipei, my eldest brother coordinated with the co-workers and elders of the churches on the island of Taiwan, and even coordinated harmoniously and sweetly with the co-workers of the churches throughout the earth. Under the leading of this ministry, my eldest brother labored to promote and fully coordinated, and so had a part in the full-time training, the five-year gospelization work of Taiwan, the overseas propagation, the purchase and building of the Xinji Building, the post-disaster reconstruction service after the 921 earthquake, the students-and-scholars work, and the Lord's move in Asia, in Europe, and even throughout the earth. We testify that he has fought the good fight, he has finished the course he should run, he has kept the faith he should keep, and we believe the crown of righteousness has surely been laid up for my eldest brother. Glory be to God!
