Tender and Considerate
A Good Teacher and Beneficial Friend; a Spiritual Mentor
Brother Wu was my good teacher and beneficial friend, and also my spiritual mentor. In 1997, when I was serving in San Francisco, there were some difficulties in coordination, and he encouraged me, saying that in serving the Lord one must be humble, not claim credit, and be patient; learn to give the credit to others and take the toil upon oneself, and give the glory to the Lord. These words benefited me greatly.
In 2014 I went to serve at Taipei Hall One. Brother Wu knew that I both respected and feared him, and that whenever he was present I would be nervous when speaking for the Lord (actually, he looked stern from afar but was warm up close—so there was no need to fear him); after he understood my weakness, he often deliberately avoided being present, so that I could boldly speak for the Lord. This was one aspect of Brother Wu's cherishing and perfecting of people.
In 2015, when my service needed to be reassigned, Brother Wu, considering that my wife had to work near Taipei 101 and fearing the commute would be too far, arranged for me to go to the Sanchong meeting hall—this again was another aspect of Brother Wu's tenderness and consideration.
In short, Brother Wu's service and the help he gave people were in many and varied aspects. The impression and personal qualities Brother Wu gave me were these: all his life he loved the Lord, loved the church, and loved the brothers and sisters; he was also a helper and spreader of Brother Lee's ministry of this age; he was faithful and prudent, sacrificing and consecrated, diligent and laboring, leading the churches to be one accord and to closely follow; he poured himself out, devoting himself utterly, becoming a fragrant drink offering offered to the Lord, and a channel of the life supply God prepared for the Body of Christ.
