Family Remembrance and a Brief Account of His Service
My eldest brother Yucheng was a man not skilled in speech, not fluent of tongue, yet he was a pattern of one willing to bend his shoulder to bear a heavy load and to do hard labor, faithful and laboring in the things the Lord had entrusted to him. Thank the Lord, out of God's rich mercy and grace, He gained Yucheng's whole life—born in the Lord's recovery, grown under the watering of the age's ministry, chosen by God and set apart to serve the Lord and His glorious church with singleness of heart. Truly, what a worthwhile life, a life remembered and counted by the Lord. Two days ago, elder Brother Zijian (何子建) took me to fellowship with Brother Yu Jielin (余潔麟) about the arrangements for Yucheng's memorial meeting. Brother Yu's first words were: "Yucheng and I were brothers in distress together in serving the Lord and spreading the ministry." Then he went on to say: "Among all of Yucheng's services, the most important was bringing the churches and the saints on the island of Taiwan into the fellowship of the ministry." Indeed, from 1982, when Yucheng entered the service of Taiwan Gospel Book Room, and from 1985, when he entered the full-time service, for more than thirty years Yucheng faithfully and laboriously promoted the blending of the churches in Taiwan and America, so that the saints on the island of Taiwan could resolutely and continually enter into the fellowship of the ministry and enjoy the Lord's timely speaking and the divine flow. Yucheng was faithful to the entrustment of the ministry, laboring yet joyfully carrying out the work the Lord led through Brother Lee. This is evident in his promotion of the spoken word of the ministry; in the five-year gospelization of Taiwan; in the purchase and building of the land for Linkou and the Xinji Building; in his cooperation with the gospel spread in Russia; in his strengthening and promoting of the blending among the co-workers and full-timers on the island of Taiwan; in his promoting of the regular annual brothers' blending and sisters' blending throughout Taiwan; in his promoting of the Collected Works of Watchman Nee and the Collected Works of Witness Lee; in his promoting of the action to expand the church in Taipei to one hundred meeting halls; and likewise in his participation in actions such as the New Jersey training to perfect the intellectuals and scholars, the LMA, and the gospel to the business and industrial world, all raised by Brother Guanghui (張光惠)—in everything, his characteristic of bending his shoulder to bear the load, diligent and laboring, was manifested. Thank the Lord for His mercy to him, causing him to sleep peacefully in the Lord's bosom, having rested from all his labors on earth, awaiting the Lord's coming to receive approval and reward from the Lord. May the Lord also have mercy on us, that we may, like our brother, resolutely and continually follow the Lord in faithfulness, serving Him to the end of the way.
