Appreciative of Others, Kind and Genial,
An Ordinary Elder Who Was Not Lofty
When my parents were young, they were perfected and served by Brother Paul Wu. Though from childhood I did not know him, I had heard of him and had a very deep impression of him. In my impression, Brother Wu was, of course, a very distant and lofty figure. It was not until I came to Hall One that I discovered that this Brother Wu, whom I had always thought to be a solemn spiritual man, was in fact a thoroughly kind and genial brother. During the joint evening prayer at the student center, he sang hymns with us, and in the fellowship he exhorted us to pursue the Lord with all our might while we were young. When I dined together with him, the cordial appreciation he expressed for my parents made me feel that he was truly a tender elder who cherished others, a serving one who took people upon his heart. In my heart I thanked the Lord for giving us such a faithful, overcoming elder as a pattern for the young people.
