The Church in Taipei — Reorganization, Purchasing Land to Build the Shin-Ji Building, and the Increase of Large Districts and Meeting Halls

Brother An Lixing: When the Lord's servant Brother Witness Lee returned to Taipei in October 1984 to take the lead, he had three desires in his heart with which he encouraged us all: first, to reorganize and take the new way; second, the Gospelization of Taiwan; and third, to build a large meeting hall.

For the Gospelization of Taiwan, the first full-time training center in the whole world, the Full-Time Training in Taiwan (FTTT), was established in 1986, with every twenty saints supporting one full-time serving one. This not only cared for the need of the spreading throughout the island of Taiwan but also reached out to spread to other countries.

Brother Lee also mentioned many times that the large meetings and the small meetings are like the two wings of an airplane, which need to be balanced. For the large meetings, we truly needed a large meeting place where the saints could gather and blend. Thus, the Linkou meeting place was first purchased; but since that piece of land could not yet be developed and used, the plan was changed to purchasing and merging land beside Hall Six to build the Shin-Ji Building.

At that time the estimated budget for the purchase was about NT$1 billion. From the competitive bidding for the land to the construction, from deliberating over loans to the saints offering of themselves, Brother Wu and several brothers who coordinated together in the main service all threw themselves into it wholeheartedly. Because the amount required was so great, the brothers were somewhat short in faith; but under Brother Lee's teaching they were strengthened. Not only so, Brother Wu also had wisdom from the Lord, having fellowship concerning the burden of mutual sharing of supply and need — this was truly a pioneering act of offering. Therefore, the churches throughout Taiwan were of one heart, and the churches throughout the whole earth also responded one after another. Through the brothers' day-and-night labor, the building was finally completed and put into use in May 1998.

From the completion of the Shin-Ji Building until now, under the management led by Brother Wu, the function of the Shin-Ji Building has been brought to its fullest. Not only has the church in Taipei benefited greatly, but financially it has also helped many churches throughout the whole earth in their need to purchase meeting halls and to carry out the Lord's work.
