Family Remembrance and a Brief Account of His Service
I remember that in the 1980s, when Brother Lee was leading the new way in Taiwan, he once said to the serving ones of Taiwan Gospel Book Room: "You are super full-time serving ones." I think this was the highest affirmation and encouragement Brother Lee gave to the saints serving in the book room. My eldest brother, Brother Wu Yucheng, was one of them.
We grew up in a family that loved the Lord. Our mother's experience of the Lord's salvation was especially deep, and so she led our whole family to closely follow the footsteps of the flock. On one occasion the church in Taipei was leading the saints to consecrate, and in those days of extreme material scarcity, our mother consecrated all that she had—namely, her seven children—completely; this laid the foundation of our being blessed. Yucheng was the eldest son in the family, destined to receive manifold blessings. Because of the Lord's mercy and the nurturing in the church life, he went from treasuring this New Testament ministry to being constituted with it, and further to being one with the ministry, even becoming a promoter of the New Testament ministry.
This seemingly lowly, small, and hidden service has before God a glorious, weighty, public, and eternal value. Today the hymns at our hand, the Recovery Version of the Bible, the Collected Works of Watchman Nee, the Collected Works of Witness Lee, the Life-studies, the electronic version of the Bible, the books and periodicals, the children's picture books, the various audio-visual books, the basic subscriptions—all of these have become riches we may enjoy at any time. Thank you, my eldest brother; thank you to the brothers and sisters who faithfully serve in the book room.
Because my eldest brother was a consecrated person, wholly faithful toward the Lord whom he loved, and because of the equipping and perfecting in many aspects and from many sides, in his life of serving the church he always took the lead in exercising, as in the purchase and building of the Xinji Building. During that time there were several offerings, and my eldest brother, together with Brother Lin Hong (林鴻), who coordinated in the same meeting hall, took the lead in fully laying themselves down, so as to stir up all the saints to follow wholly. As we gather here today, we testify that within it is spread the love of all the daughters of Jerusalem.
In serving the church in Taipei, my eldest brother coordinated with the co-workers and elders of the churches on the island of Taiwan, and even coordinated harmoniously and sweetly with the co-workers of the churches throughout the whole earth. Under the leading of this ministry, my eldest brother strove to promote, fully coordinated, and thus had a part in the full-time training, the five-year gospelization work of Taiwan, the overseas spread, the purchase and building of the Xinji Building, the post-disaster reconstruction service for the 921 earthquake, the work for the intellectuals and scholars, and the Lord's move in Asia, Europe, and even throughout the whole earth. We testify that he has fought the good fight, he has finished the course, he has kept the faith; we believe that surely the crown of righteousness is laid up for my eldest brother. Glory be to God!
