Meekly and Humbly Bearing the Lord's Yoke
Prudently Governing for the Testimony
At the end of 2010, Taipei County was reorganized into New Taipei City, and the former churches in Taipei County overnight also became one church in New Taipei City. None of the brothers had been through this; entirely through our brother's help—from establishing the general deacons' office service, to merging the church's legal entities, to one finance—he led the church step by step onto the right track, and finally there came today's harmonious coordination of the brothers.
Several times when the brothers went with their needs to fellowship with him, Brother Wu, besides finishing the fellowship of the matter at hand, would mostly go on to mention the direction ahead. He said New Taipei City was the largest city in all Taiwan, vast in territory, and could not have only three caring districts; more people needed to be perfected, so that later, in the service, it could be promoted and carried out by large districts.
He liked us to come to him often to fellowship, and he too explained tirelessly. Several times when I went to him with questions, his answers always gave one full assurance, and after fellowshipping my heart was quite settled.
Once, when the brothers and I went to the hospital to see him, he was lying in bed yet could not rest. On his left and right were brothers who had come to see him; he was giving instructions on the one hand, while at the same time the nurse came in to give injections, take his blood pressure, and administer medicine. Actually his body truly needed rest, but he was still willing to pour himself out for the Lord's affairs.
For the New Spring conference at the beginning of this year, because no large venue could be rented, it was decided that it would be held separately by the three caring districts. The brothers could only, not by sight, go to make contact again, and unexpectedly in one day they borrowed the impossible venue, the Xinzhuang Stadium; and in less than two months, all the special-work exhibits were prepared and displayed in the joyful and glorious gathering of the whole church on the second day of the Lunar New Year.
In his exhortation at the end of the meeting, Brother Wu led everyone to sing "Forever Lift Up Jesus," and using the words of Ephesians 1:3, he showed the saints that the church is under the blessing of the Triune God. At the same time, he announced that the church in New Taipei City would henceforth be divided into five caring districts, and he introduced the one hundred and twenty responsible brothers (including the newly appointed ones) to all the saints. It could be said that after ten years, another new milestone of the church in New Taipei City had begun.
Yes, all his life he meekly and humbly bore the Lord's yoke, and learned from the Lord, bearing the burden the Lord entrusted to him, setting for us a beautiful pattern of service. May I also take up the burden the Lord has measured to me, learn the brother's faithfulness, and go on in the Lord's recovery.
