Constituted with the Word; Spreading the Ministry
The Most Holy Faith; Building Up Oneself
He has now truly rested from the entanglement and labor that the sickness of these years brought; yet we have lost a valiant one and a pattern who ran ahead of us.
His tall and sturdy build commanded respect; in his brow and his speech, he was firm as a mountain and steady as a rock. In his youth he was full of vigor; following at his side to coordinate together, watching him direct with composure, gave one an especially strong sense of security. After he grew older, having seen much of the world, he became all the more mellow and broad-minded, magnanimous and dignified; in the midst of his sternness, again and again he let people feel his warmth and gentleness. But no matter how the years and his age changed, in him there was always displayed a leader's firmness, bearing capacity, decisiveness, and a pattern of leading by example.
Especially in these last few years, when his physical condition was gradually declining, every time I saw him walking with faltering steps, dragging his heavy body, appearing on various occasions, comparing him to the man he was thirty or forty years before, I truly found it hard to accept the fact. But he still did not change his bearing, and still appeared at various important meetings at home and abroad according to the scheduled time. I think this was not only a pattern, not only a living sacrifice; he was even more a drink offering, a fragrant drink offering poured out upon Christ.
In the memorial meeting, the testimony of the serving ones of the bookroom mentioned two sentences of Brother Wu's, which suddenly awakened me: "Be constituted with the word of the ministry; spread this ministry of the age." All his life he threw himself into these two sentences; he was the best portrayal of them; he himself was the living testimony of these two sentences.
May the Lord keep us, imitating the pattern, walking on the right path of the Lord's recovery; holding fast the truth, building up ourselves upon the most holy faith. May we all, with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength, follow Him, fear Him, be closely joined to Him, love Him, and serve Him!
