Strict with Himself; Gracious toward Others
When I was young, I only felt that Brother Wu had quite a portion in practical service. Yet the more I coordinated with him, the more I saw his faithfulness in this ministry, and how he used his gift to carry out and coordinate with the burden of the ministry.
When I returned to Taiwan from the propagation in Russia, the churches on the island of Taiwan were still under the influence of different ministries. I saw how Brother Wu wisely encouraged the co-worker brothers to attend the seven yearly conferences and trainings, and after they returned, through the all-Taiwan or regional blending, led all the saints to enter together into the same speaking, so that the Lord could peacefully lead the churches in Taiwan through the influence of the turmoil and even bring in an unprecedented one accord.
Although in the process there were many negative remarks about such leading, today the condition on the island of Taiwan truly confirms his faithfulness and wisdom.
For three years I served at the training center and had closer coordination with the brother. Every time the training center wanted to change some equipment or facility, Brother Wu would first see whether the bookroom had something old that could be brought over and used.
I often felt that toward the needs of many countries or churches he was very generous, yet toward his own people he was very strict. Gradually I came to discover and treasure this character and capacity of his—strict with himself and gracious toward others; and it caused all the churches to be open to him and willing to receive his service, because he was one who was willing to give to others.
After I returned to Taiwan to serve, every three to five years Brother Wu would fellowship with me about reassigning my place of service. Although many times inwardly I felt it was not quite fair—other co-workers did not need to move so frequently; why did our family need to be reassigned so frequently? Although at the time I did not understand Brother Wu's consideration, today I am very grateful to him for giving me so many opportunities to learn coordination in different places, to enlarge my capacity, and to enjoy the riches and supply of the Body in various places.
