Good and Faithful, Caring for the Lord's Possession—
Generation After Generation, Carrying On the Lord's Commission
Because of my work, the Lord first brought our whole family from Taiwan to Los Angeles, and then I was transferred to Ottawa, Canada. By the Lord's hand, the church there was in a situation of revival, and the Lord kept adding people to us. At the same time, He once again raised up among the local saints the burden to purchase a meeting hall; but our funds were not abundant, and we needed the help of all the churches. When the brothers there fellowshipped, it turned out that I was the only one who had come from Taiwan, so they charged me to be responsible to fellowship with all the churches in Taiwan. I thought, "The main responsible brothers in Taiwan do not even know me—how am I to fellowship with them?" I had no choice but to brace myself and say, "Amen."
It happened that I had a chance to return to Taiwan on a business trip, so I contacted Brother Wu and explained the purpose of my visit. Brother Wu readily agreed, and asked me to come to Hall One during the lunch break of the island-wide co-workers' fellowship to eat and fellowship together. That day, besides Brother Wu, there was also Brother Lin Hong (林鴻). The brothers were very concerned about the testimony there and asked many questions about the local situation. Brother Wu, being a faithful and shrewd steward of the Lord, caring for the Lord's possession, of course had to inquire thoroughly into the situation of the church there. Fortunately, Brother Fuhua (復華) was also present and helped to introduce me a little; otherwise, the two elder brothers might have been quite worried, not knowing where this "fellow" had popped up from, coming straight out to ask for money. This was the first time I formally sat down to fellowship with Brother Wu.
Afterward, taking the opportunities of the winter and summer trainings and the co-workers' and elders' trainings, I continued to report to the elder brothers on the progress of purchasing the meeting hall. At the end of 2018, relying on the offerings of the local saints and the help of all the churches in Canada, the church in Ottawa smoothly signed the contract and bought the hall. But just as the closing was at hand, we discovered that we had miscalculated and had to prepay a tax of about CAD 200,000. Thank the Lord—just five days before the closing, we received the funds remitted by all the churches in Taiwan, exactly CAD 200,000, no more and no less. The Lord truly directs all things!
In our Lord's recovery, there are so very many saints like our dear Brother Wu, who, for the church and for the brothers and sisters, disregard themselves and pour out their all for the Lord, being the Lord's good and faithful stewards. We are willing to follow the example of Brother Wu, to offer ourselves, and often to give the young saints a little more encouragement and cherishing, to establish their faith in the Lord—only thus can we, generation after generation, carry on the Lord's commission here!
