What Was Poured Out upon Us Was by No Means in Vain
Philippians 2:17-18: But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice, and I rejoice together with you all. And in like manner you also rejoice, and you rejoice together with me.
In August 2014, Brother Wu came to Hong Kong, and we ate and fellowshipped together with Brother Yu, talking about how, behind the rapid economic development, there were many entrepreneurs holding things up—outwardly rich, yet inwardly poor, some so poor that all they had left was money—and that this was an opportunity to rise up and preach the high gospel to them. It was also mentioned that there were many business-and-industry saints among us who lacked effective care; year-round they were out striving and gradually grew distant from the Lord, and they needed to be shepherded.
After prayer and fellowship, Brother Yu and Brother Wu decided to hold the first business-and-industry gospel blending in Hong Kong on October 17, 2014. The brothers formed a prayer group and began to pray earnestly. The Lord exceeded what we asked or thought; the number was five times more than expected, and many groups of two or three were formed to continue praying, testifying, and preaching the gospel. Brother Zhang said that Brother Yu and Brother Wu truly had foresight, able to touch the pulse of the Holy Spirit's beating and the need of the brothers and sisters.
In September 2015, when preparing the fellowship on Jeju Island, Brother Wu came. As soon as he saw the brothers who had come from various places to fellowship and pray, he was very joyful. When the brothers prayed about the target number for that year's blending, Brother Wu, having heard it, said to everyone, "I think it's not the number you said—double it!" Everyone was stunned, and Brother Wu went on, "With your fellowship and prayer in such one accord, the Lord will bless; you must have faith!" Then everyone said "Amen" with one voice!
Brother Wu's trust and covering gathered the brothers together and produced even more impact in service.
In 2017, the gospel-health-new-life blending of various sectors was held in Tokyo, from Thursday until it ended on the Lord's Day. For four full days, he held the microphone only fifteen minutes, yet the brothers and sisters said, "His sitting there is itself strength!" Every time I asked him what to pay attention to, he always said, "It's good enough if the brothers and sisters get moving!" He and Brother Tao came to serve so that every one of the brothers and sisters could get moving! His sitting there strengthened the brothers and sisters! Seeing this, Brother Elijah said that Brother Wu was a pattern of building the church according to the pattern on the mountain!
At the winter training of 2016, in fellowship with Brother Wu and Brother Tao, after many brothers and sisters were revived and gained, they began to function in the churches in various places, hungering for the Lord's word and the growth of life, hoping to be perfected by the ministry more quickly. Brother Wu fellowshipped with the brothers about holding the middle-aged study-tour class—twice a year a week-long training in Taiwan, one study tour in Israel, attending at least once the on-site winter or summer training in America or the video training, and in ordinary times completing the middle-aged class course locally within the framework of vital groups, exercising life and coordination, and each person bearing twelve fruits a year.
Brother Wu was a pattern of one fully constituted with the ministry of this age, living it out naturally and absolutely laying himself out!
His words were plain yet gave people life; his smile was kindly, making people trust; his habitual self-sacrifice gave people solid support; his gaze was deep, decisive, and full of foresight. His heart was broad, with the capacity of the Body of Christ! He was one who led well, who should be counted worthy of double honor (1 Tim. 5:17).
