The Church in a Small Town, the Fellowship of the Body of Christ
About ten years ago, the church in Minxiong had a burden to set up a student center for the four campuses nearby. Although the local saints in Minxiong did their utmost to offer, they could raise only about half of the needed funds. So the brothers went to fellowship with Brother Wu, and after the burden and the need had been fellowshipped, he replied with only one sentence: "Just go ahead and build it; the money is not a problem."
Not long afterward, the brothers encouraged us to fellowship the matter in the meeting of all the elders and co-workers in Taiwan, committing the burden of building the student center to the Body.
When we finished our fellowship, Brother Wu stood up and emphasized to the responsible brothers from the various localities that this fellowship was not only for building the student center in Minxiong, but, even more important, for strengthening the fellowship concerning the work on the university campuses. On the spot, from the north to the south, he set forth the figures for each locality and asked the brothers to support the need in Minxiong, adding at the end one sentence: "Brothers, amen or not amen?" The brothers below, in one accord, answered together: "Amen, amen." And so the matter was accomplished just like that. This little one, on the spot, was so moved that hot tears welled up in my eyes and I could not contain myself.
Seven years ago, at the inaugural meeting of the Minxiong student center, Brother Wu made the trip south especially to cheer on and encourage the brothers and sisters in Minxiong, urging us to gain more young people on the campuses. Before the meeting ended, the brothers and sisters declared: "As for this student center, the lower floor will be filled with people sitting, and the upper floor will be filled with people living." That Brother Wu would thus support a church in such a small town truly moved us beyond measure.
The brother's help to all the churches throughout the whole earth and on the island of Taiwan, and especially his support for the church in Minxiong, we engrave upon our hearts. The brother's labor will be remembered even in eternity.
