Faithful, Laboring

Absolute, Following

Brother Wu's character and qualities were exactly these: faithful, laboring, exerting himself, absolute, closely following; toward the older co-workers he gave abundant care, attentive to the smallest detail. In any church affair he gave his utmost; while Brother Lee was living, by day he handled the affairs of the East (Taiwan), and by night he attended to the affairs of the West (the United States)—he could go without eating and without sleeping, on call twenty-four hours a day. He had been an ace rugby player, sturdy and strong in body, but for the Lord and for the church he ruined himself and gradually lost his health.

  • In serving the churches in Taiwan to closely follow the leading of the ministry, he started the winter and summer video trainings, and never missed the seven yearly trainings and conferences.

  • He led the churches and the gospel work in Taiwan to enter into an unprecedented "one accord."

  • He made peace among people, blending the churches of the East and the West together, even reaching out to the wider Christian world.

  • He led the service of the bookroom, laboring to spread the ministry's publications—he was a spreader of the ministry of the word.

On March 3, he still attended the church meeting as usual; in the meeting he fellowshipped that his kidney condition was not good and his blood pressure was very unstable, that standing up or sitting down often made him dizzy, so that he had to use a wheelchair, yet he still comforted the brothers and sisters, saying he was all right.

On the 4th, after his usual dialysis, he went into the office and served the whole day. Actually he had already felt unwell, until five in the afternoon; later, at the brothers' strong urging, he was admitted that evening to the Taipei Veterans General Hospital for treatment.

That evening, his heart stopped three times; after resuscitation, at 3:54 in the early morning of March 5 he was taken by the Lord, resting from his labor on the earth.

I deeply believe that he was a man-child, an overcomer, who will surely receive the Lord's reward. He has obtained the promise to be "kept out of the hour of trial, which is about to come upon the whole inhabited earth, to try them who dwell on the earth" (Rev. 3:10). Praise the Lord!
