Missing Our Dear Brother Paul Wu
In 1994 I came to Taipei to attend the full-time training. One session of the training was watching Brother Lee's video training, and during class I noticed a brother I did not know who always quietly walked back and forth during class time. Whenever I went to the Gospel Book Room at Hall One on my Monday day off from the training, I would also see this brother's serving figure, alone loading onto a truck, one by one, the boxes of publications to be sent to the various meeting halls.
In 1995, when Brother Wu and Brother Lin Hong (林鴻) came to the church in Daejeon, Korea, to help us, the responsible brothers in the church in Daegu also invited the two brothers to come to Daegu to help us; but because the two brothers had already accepted Daejeon's invitation, they could not come to Daegu. Yet the two brothers promised that when the number of saints in the church in Daegu reached six hundred, they would come to visit Daegu. Accordingly, the responsible brothers and all the saints in Daegu, through being one accord in prayer and shepherding, grew from only about two hundred and thirty saints at the start to six hundred and eighteen in the concentrated meeting by the end of that year. As soon as that winter training ended, Brother Wu and Brother Lin Hong, not disappointing the expectation, immediately visited the church in Daegu, giving us much encouragement and cherishing.
In 2005, when Brother Wu again visited the church in Daegu, there were at that time some difficult situations among the serving brothers. When we went to the East Daegu train station to receive Brother Wu, a brother who opposed Brother Wu actually poked him with his cane, rebuking him and saying, "Go back! Go back!" Brother Wu not only did not respond or mind his action but instead cared for that brother.
At that time, also because of the difficulties in the church life in Daegu, the full-timers for a while had no fixed supply. Somehow Brother Wu knew of it, and afterward we received the provision for our living.
Another time, concerning the matter of purchasing the Bible Truth Ministry Station, the full-time serving ones of all Korea gathered to fellowship at the Hwagok-dong meeting hall in Seoul; facing considerations and feelings from many sides, and many difficulties, not knowing how to decide, through Brother Wu's fellowship everyone said Amen and agreed. Thus the purchase of the Korea Bible Truth Ministry Station was accomplished, and the Lord, through Brother Wu, brought tremendous blessing to the church in Korea.
Thank Brother Wu for living out a life of sacrifice; I too am willing to follow in the brother's footsteps and press on.
