A Firm and Strong Will

An Unshakable Faithfulness

To me, a junior learning to serve the Lord, elder Brother Paul Wu's sturdy figure, his firm and strong will, his unshakable faithfulness to the ministry, and his attitude of laboring tirelessly and exerting himself to the utmost for the Lord's recovery were an encouragement. The elder brother's service to the church was stable and firm, like the names of the two pillars of God's temple—Jachin and Boaz: the elder brother was established by the Lord, and in him the Lord had strength.

Elder Brother Paul Wu was a connecting sinew and a supplying joint in the Body of Christ. Many times I saw how the elder brother blended the co-workers, elders, and saints together. The elder brother valued all the members, hoping that all the members could function together. The pillars in 1 Kings 7 were eighteen cubits. The Recovery Version of the Bible has a note here: "Each pillar was a half, indicating that no matter how complete our mingling with the Triune God is, in ourselves we are still incomplete and need others to match us." Elder Brother Wu was indeed a good pattern of one who valued coordination.

In September 2019, the Lord gave me an opportunity to accompany the elder brother from Kaohsiung to Taipei. All along the way, the elder brother did not care for his own rest but, for the sake of a junior's opportunity to learn, shared many of his precious experiences. Through the elder brother's fellowship, I saw that, although the elder brother was an important leading co-worker in the Lord's recovery, he was a simple, humble slave serving the Lord and serving the church. Toward the Lord the elder brother was indeed full of faith, simply trusting that the Lord had the best arrangement and governing for His recovery, and he hoped only to coordinate faithfully with the Lord. And so the elder brother's service could bring in the blessing of life, the one accord of the churches, and the strengthening of many churches and saints.

May the Lord, in His recovery, in the house of God, raise up more overcoming pillars. "He who overcomes, him I will make a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall by no means go out anymore, and I will write upon him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which descends out of heaven from My God, and My new name." (Rev. 3:12)
