Although in the various trainings and conferences I would see Brother Wu, in fact my contact with Brother Wu was not much; yet what greatly surprised me was that he actually remembered me and could call out my name. He cared very much for the campus work and for the young people. When we here began to practice pray-reading, researching, memorizing, and speaking, he supported it with all his strength and encouraged us to do it well. Each time we sent an email to order outlines from him, he would prepare them in full and arrange for the co-working brothers to come to perfect and help us. Each time we went to pick up the outlines, the quantity we had ordered was perfectly clear to him—I truly never imagined that one so busy could yet be so meticulous. I had originally thought that during the past winter training there might be no way to see him, but when we went to pick up the outlines, he was still sitting there personally handling matters. My eyes grew moist at that moment—half a year before, he had still been in the ICU!
At the end of 2018 he collapsed on a flight from Chicago back to Los Angeles and was admitted to UCLA Hospital. When we heard of it, we prayed earnestly for him. The first time I saw him, he was still in the ICU, having only recently regained consciousness, with many tubes still inserted in his body; but he did not give up, and with an extremely faint voice he told us of his experience. He said it was as though he had seen the experience of the Lord on the cross; he felt that his experience was for the Body of Christ, continually giving thanks to the Lord and praising the Lord, and encouraging us to seize the opportunity to love the Lord.
