All the Strength, All the Mind
In February, after the all-Taiwan co-workers' training at the central blending center ended, he gave a love feast to the co-workers of the Chengzhong and Datong districts of the city, and we were still chatting and laughing around the table. After the meal, I drove him back to Taipei; because we heard that Brother An Lixing (安立興) was unwell and in the hospital emergency room, he asked me to detour to Youmin Hospital in Nantou to visit him, and afterward he even had Brother An get into his car and sent him home—sweet fellowship all the way. This was his meticulous care and service, and it was the norm.
For the past three years, since Brother Wu vigorously promoted the large-district administration of the church in Taipei, he personally served in the Chengzhong and Datong districts. At the morning revival at 6:30 every Monday morning, no matter whether he had slept well the day before, he always accompanied all the responsible brothers, caring for each meeting hall and each special work. There was also, once every two months, an enlarged service fellowship meeting held by rotation at each meeting hall, where he was also present to exhort and supervise. As long as he was present at any gathering, there was an indescribable assurance and security.
Because of his presence in shepherding and settling cases, the brothers were one accord in coordination, expressing a condition of building up, and the number in the church life also gradually increased.
Not only so, what amazed us even more was the brother's extraordinary memory: he could recount in detail, from Hall One to Hall Seventy-eight, the location of each meeting hall and from which meeting hall it had increased; the same with the names of the responsible brothers—he could call the roll one by one, so that unless someone asked for leave, no one dared to be absent; even with the churches abroad, he could call out the names of who was serving where. This is not because Brother Wu's brainpower was so strong, but a glimpse of Brother Wu serving with his heart.
In 2010 I was sent to serve in Singapore. I remember once, when I and a brother serving full-time in Singapore went to Thailand to attend a meeting, after the meeting Brother Wu called this brother to stop, saying, "Come, this box is for you." Wow! It was actually a box of English spiritual publications. At once this brother, receiving shepherding from him, felt doubly comforted.
Looking back to 1989 through 1993, Brother Lee led the move of the five-year gospelization of Taiwan; through the churches being one accord, according to the leading of the ministry, and through the strenuous efforts of the full-time propagators, ninety-four churches were established one after another.
During this period, Brother Wu continually brought the brothers into close fellowship with Brother Lee, which was the key to the success of the propagation. Because everyone carried it out according to the leading, without opinions, the blessing brought in was also unprecedented. Brother Wu said, to live in an age that has a ministry—how light and how blessed!
In the move of the gospelization of Taiwan, Brother Wu was the main one serving the provision of the various propagation teams; whatever the leasing of meeting-hall premises, the meeting equipment of the halls, the lodging and living needs of the full-timers—everything down to the finest detail. It was only so that the propagation teams could press on courageously without worries from the rear, gaining people and gaining places.
Not only so, he was also responsible for caring for the Kaohsiung-Pingtung region; in order to save time, he often, regardless of weariness, drove through the night back and forth on the freeway, giving the propagating saints in various places tremendous encouragement and help.
For the financial needs of the propagation, through the fellowship of all the churches in Taiwan, Brother Wu bore the great responsibility of promotion, providing in a timely way the most timely and accurate financial statements, so that the brothers could bear it together in one fellowship and willingly support it. According to the needs of the propagation and according to the targets, there was coordination in finances to meet the actual needs.
Brother Wu's life of service was, in name and in reality, a good pattern of loving the Lord and loving the church with all the heart, all the soul, all the strength, and all the mind (Luke 10:27).
