Pouring Out His Whole Being, Soul
Mind, and Strength
Brother Wu's outward appearance seemed to have no attracting form or beauty, and because of his leading status he was somewhat fearsome. But the more one fellowshipped with the brother, the more one discovered that, beneath the seemingly stern exterior, Brother Wu had a heart of warm love and tender care for people.
More than ten years ago, when this little one was transferred to serve at a meeting hall in the Chengzhong district, I had more opportunities to be in contact with the brother. I remember once when this little one met a difficulty in service and went to fellowship with the brother, the brother was very wise; he gave no teaching in doctrine but lightly testified how he himself, in his service, had met difficulties and all kinds of environments. As soon as this little one heard it, my heart was comforted, thinking that what this little one suffered was nothing compared to Brother Wu's—this was Brother Wu's wise shepherding in love.
Last year, of the two responsible brothers at the meeting hall where this little one served, one was taken by the Lord and the other was seriously ill. During that time, Brother Wu would fellowship with this little one almost whenever he saw me, on the one hand caring about the condition of the brothers and sisters, and on the other hand caring for and greeting this little one. Once Brother Wu even praised and encouraged this little one. Whenever I think of this, my tears cannot be held back and cannot stop. Our dear elder Brother Wu—at that time your body was already so poor, yet your heart was still so broad, and your care and love for people are beyond description. The burden of the churches and all the affairs were upon you, yet you still cared for and supported, one by one, such extremely weak and unworthy little ones as us. Brother, could you not have cared a little for yourself? You poured out your whole being, soul, mind, and strength upon the church, upon the brothers and sisters one by one. May the Lord have mercy and grant grace, that we little ones may imitate the brother's pattern and learn to follow in the brother's footsteps and press on.
