Serving the Word with All His Heart and Strength;

Constituted with the Word, Conformed and Glorified

Brother Wu's capacity was large, and his perfecting of people is universally known. Once, when the Gospel Book Room held a Japan-Korea blending and invited the spouses to attend, Brother Zhang went along as well. When the members of the Gospel Book Room were being introduced at the church in Tokyo, Brother Wu introduced Brother Zhang as the son-in-law of the book room. The moment these words were spoken, though humorous, they were a great strengthening to the brother and supported me all the more in my later service. When the brother had finished his studies in America and was about to go to Zhongli to take up a teaching post at a college, it was just at the time of the leading concerning the value of serving on campus being stored up unto eternity, so we moved our whole household; and to this Brother Wu also responded that there was no problem. Some years later, through the Lord's marvelous leading, I returned again to serve in the Gospel Book Room. Looking back upon the past, whether on the mountaintops or in the valleys, Brother Wu was always in it. I thank him for what he was and for what he did.

What I learned in the book room is truly a lifelong, inexhaustible benefit. The service of the book room was indeed quite busy, but what Brother Wu cared for most was the spiritual condition of each serving one in the local churches. He was unwilling for us to have only an outward service, and he often charged us to love the Lord's word, to prophesy in the various meetings and fulfill our function, and to become patterns to the saints. And he himself was the best model, serving with all his heart and strength in his many services. May the Lord double upon us the spirit that moved Brother Wu to love and serve the Lord!
