Some Followed in the Footsteps of Christ
and Became Patterns to Those Who Came After
Gradually I came to know Brother Wu—to know him as one who put the Lord and the service first, a man who truly gave his all. I remember a word he often used to encourage those who serve: "The Lord has not yet come back; we still must keep on laboring well."
Brother Wu spared no effort in the propagation of the ministry. On a Lord's Day just before the start of the 2019 summer training, he actually appeared at the Cerritos meeting hall to lead the fellowship for the propagation of the Collected Works of Brother Lee. I was deeply moved—Brother Wu, paying no regard to the weakness of his body, came in person to propagate the Collected Works of Brother Lee. We all knew that at the end of 2018 he had just passed through a crisis of life and death. After the meeting, quite a few brothers went over to speak with him, to shake his hand, and to show their respect. I too summoned up my courage, went over to greet him, and said, "How are you, Brother Wu!"
Brother Wu's wholehearted devotion in the service is truly a pattern to us. Had I been in his place, I would long ago have quit on account of my body. I think Brother Wu was very clear about the condition of his body, but because of the commission upon him and the vision he had seen, he would serve to his very last breath; he would be faithful unto death and gain the crown of glory.
"For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered on your behalf, leaving you a model so that you may follow in His steps."
Christ left us a model that we may follow in His steps. Some have followed in His steps and have themselves become patterns to those who come after; in this way pattern after pattern is handed down—and this is the Lord's recovery.
