He Served Our Generation with a Father's Heart
Brother Wu said to a certain sister that she should hand over to me her child, who was about the same age as my eldest, so that I might care for the child together with my own, and so that the sister could work with a single heart. I thought to myself, "Why should I help her care for her child while she goes to work and earns money?" I did not even pray and ask the Lord; I simply refused. Thinking of it now, Brother Wu was just like a father, caring for our practical needs, hoping that I might be able to take care of the children and at the same time live the church life well and also receive some help.
In 2014 our family of four moved overseas. At that time, because there was a burden within me to be self-supporting, so that we could stay there for the long term according to the Lord's burden, I therefore, with my husband's agreement, wrote a message asking Brother Wu whether we might run some kind of business. Brother Wu answered, "No problem."
In 2015 we moved to another country. That year I began what may be called a working life. But before every new decision, I learned to fellowship with Brother Wu, and Brother Wu would always take the time to respond briefly to my major decisions.
The years from 2014 to 2018, when we were overseas, were actually the period when we were able to fellowship closely with Brother Wu—though "closely" meant only once a year. Each time we returned to Taiwan, we were finally able to go to the Christian Faith Building and sit together with Brother Wu in his office, listening to my husband report to Brother Wu on the recent situation of the propagation. And Brother Wu always greeted us like this: "Are you doing all right? Are you still able to survive?" When we would smilingly answer, "We're all right! We can still survive," Brother Wu would then say, "Still able to survive—well then, that's good! Just stay on!"
In May 2019 we returned to settle in Taiwan. That time was the last time I fellowshipped with Brother Wu at length. In Brother Wu's encouragement, he spoke of the very practical matters one would encounter in the church life, encouraging us to know what we are doing. Finally, when I asked him whether he had any word of encouragement for me now that I had returned to Taiwan, he said, "Just live the church life well!"
