Faithful unto Death; Serving the Ministry
Looking back over the past, whenever there was a going-on of the Lord's move in various places, I often sought Brother Wu's fellowship. In his fellowship there was always a macro view of the Lord's recovery, as well as his deep touching of the feeling of the Body of Christ; in fellowship with him time after time, deep within I always felt it reliable and secure. Now, suddenly losing my elder brother, not only do I in the future have one fewer person to seek out for fellowship, but for the Lord's recovery it is also a great loss!
Yet deep in my spirit I still submit to the Lord's will, and I believe that this is the most fitting time the Lord arranged! Our elder brother ought to rest from his labor on the earth and rest in the Lord whom he loved and faithfully served all his life!
Brother Wu, all his life, labored to follow the ministry and became an excellent spreader of the ministry of this age; he bore the heavy responsibility of publishing the ministry's literature. Year after year he brought the serving team of the bookroom throughout Taiwan and even throughout the earth to introduce and spread the publications, so that the churches benefited and grew together.
The churches, the co-workers, and the elders in Taiwan, under Brother Wu's encouragement and promotion, closely followed and entered into the Lord's speaking seven times a year; not only did many attend the conferences and trainings in person, but they also brought this age-characterized speaking back to Taiwan, so that the Lord's speaking in one place became the prevailing speaking of all the churches throughout Taiwan.
Brother Wu outwardly seemed stern, but with a little drawing near and contact, one could feel that he was an elder brother full of love and full of sympathy toward people; he cared in many ways and in fine detail for the saints' needs great and small, and the brother also tenderly cared for the needs of our family. The deep love from the Lord in Brother Wu was especially expressed in his bearing with and receiving of people; he could bear with all kinds of people, and he could blend many saints of different functions together.
That the co-workers and elders throughout Taiwan have today come to be one accord is truly the result of Brother Wu's broad bearing capacity; he labored to recover every lost or deviating saint, and even when misunderstood, he sought only that the Lord might recover them into the building up of the oneness of the Body of Christ.
And because of Brother Wu's broad capacity of love, as well as his deep entering into the heart of the Lord's servant Brother Lee and into the burden for the propagation in Europe, he became the key bridge in blending the churches of the East and the West into one. Although there were limitations in language, yet his heart and spirit were not limited; for the Lord's move in Europe, he brought the co-workers to visit time after time, deeply observing the needs of various places, so that the churches throughout Taiwan could actually invest themselves in coordinating with the propagation in Europe. To this day, I believe that not only Brother Lee thanks him, but the churches in Europe also thank him.
The faithful service of our dear Brother Wu is another marked characteristic in him, just like Epaphroditus, whom Paul mentioned in Philippians 2: "my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, but your apostle and minister to my need… because for the work of Christ he drew near even unto death, risking his life that he might fill up your lack of service toward me" (Phil. 2:25, 30). For the Lord's interests, for the ministry of this age, and for the pure testimony of the forerunners of the Lord's recovery, he traveled to various places…, even devoting himself utterly, unto death. We brothers who coordinated together often urged him to rest more, but he always cared for the Lord's interests above all else, always cared for God's children above his own health; he always put his own needs out of his mind, being faithful unto death toward the Lord!
