An Overflowing Fragrance, a Spirit of Joy

I was saved relatively late. By the time I came to know Brother Wu, his body was already not very good, and walking and moving about were very difficult for him. But at the training for students and scholars in New Jersey, he always supported the brothers and sisters in the meetings with a spirit of joy. As he sat there, one felt that his tall figure filled the whole meeting hall; every cell of his whole being was filled with the spirit of joy, and that overflowing joy could infect everyone, flowing into the heart of every brother and sister.

Much of the time he did not speak; he simply passed joyfully by the side of each brother and sister—and just that one passing-by would bathe them in his overflowing fragrance, as if all the gloom were at once dispelled. After the meeting ended each evening, he would come downstairs to look in on the serving brothers and sisters; sometimes there would be a brief fellowship. His fellowship was full of love! Full of strength! Full of joy! It always made people suddenly lit up by the light of life and enlivened by the spirit of power! At times we wanted to urge the brother to rest more, but each time we saw him we felt that he had an inexhaustible joy. He was supplied by the fountain of joy; this fountain supplied him, and he in turn supplied us!

We often saw our dear Brother Wu at the hall in Cerritos. Before six o'clock in the morning he would already be sitting behind the Book Room's desk, greeting every brother and sister. Whether young or old, he always smiled and fellowshipped with each one, and everyone beside him could receive supply. When he saw the training outlines, one by one, being treasured and carried off by the brothers and sisters, his gaze would always be sent far away, and his heart would rejoice along with it. Especially when the young people could be raised up by the Lord to love Him, to consecrate themselves to Christ and the church, and to prophesy and share in the meetings, he was always as joyful as a father, gladly watching over each one.

Brother Wu so loved our Lord Jesus, and the Lord Jesus naturally loved him too; and we also love him.
