Only Pouring Out the Wine, Not Drinking It—A Good Steward
Brother Wu's mind was clear and his memory unfailing; his judgment was precise and his analysis exact. Whether it was the history of the establishment of the churches at home and abroad or the background and family of the brothers and sisters, he could recount it all in detail. Whenever the brothers and sisters had any difficulty or question, he would tirelessly resolve their perplexities and tell us the related truths in the Bible, so that we would not deviate from the Lord's way.
Although Brother Wu was an elder of the church, in his daily conduct he never put on any airs nor wore any halo. Whether it was the clothing he wore or the things he used in his office, everything was exceedingly simple and plain.
All his life he labored to the uttermost for the church, even disregarding his own health. After he returned from America with a serious illness, he rested only briefly, yet he still pressed on with heavy steps, dragging his weary body, and exhausted all his strength for the Lord whom he loved.
In his service to the churches at home and abroad, Brother Wu could be said to have been highly influential in every aspect, yet we never, at any time or in any place, heard him speak a single word that exalted himself or criticized others. He regarded himself only as a slave of the Lord; in him you could see only a low-key, humble attitude. He was one who lived out Christ and magnified Christ.
He was a good steward who knew only to pour out the wine and not to drink it.
