His Conclusion—
It Is All the Grace of the Lord
Ever since moving into the sisters' house at Hall One, I began to share the church life together with Brother Wu. Although the time was not long, I can testify that the Brother Wu I saw was not a great elder, but an elder who served, one who loved the Lord, loved the church, and especially treasured every young person.
Even though Brother Wu was very busy, his caring heart never changed. At the end of last year, while I was on duty in the lobby on the first floor of the hall, Brother Wu happened to be coming home from work at the book room. When he saw me, he came forward to show his concern and asked about the situation at the sisters' house. Finally he especially charged: "Find out when the sisters are free; I want to have a meal and fellowship with everyone!"
I never expected that that fellowship would become my first—and also my last—face-to-face fellowship with Brother Wu.
In the fellowship at that meal, with courage that came from I-know-not-where, I brought up one by one the many questions and points hard to break through in the church life. Without any great biblical doctrines, without any words of traditional teaching, Brother Wu spread out before us in an unending flow the process of how, from his youth all the way to the end, he laid down his profession to serve the Lord full-time, and finally summed it up in a single sentence: "It is all the grace of the Lord." This not-profound sentence was deeply branded into my heart, and whenever I feel powerless and weak, it has become the most all-sufficient supply. Thank you, Brother Wu, for leaving before our eyes such a beautiful pattern. We too are willing, doing our utmost by grace, to run the race set before us.
