So Great a Cloud of Witnesses Surrounding Us
Followers Should Run the Race with Endurance
After finishing the training in 1991, I went down to the countryside for the propagation, and several trainees and I were assigned to Meinong. Brother Wu came down south almost every week, without ceasing, to visit the propagation teams in the various places. The day he arrived in Linyuan Township it was already evening, and besides hearing our report on the recent state of the propagation, he was also concerned for our needs. The brother's diligent character in service—his self-denial, his cherishing, his handling of everything promptly and truly—caused the church life to be served promptly and the saints to be supplied promptly.
After the fellowship, that night the brother still had to hurry back to Taipei under the stars and the moon. We happened also to be returning to Taipei to fellowship, so we caught a ride in Brother Wu's car. Considering that the brother had been driving or fellowshipping the whole day and his body must surely be weary, we proposed that we drive. But he still insisted on driving himself, because if we drove, he, on the contrary, would not be able to rest at ease.
In 1994 Brother Wu came to visit the brothers and sisters in the propagation in Russia. Spiritually he brought cherishing, fellowship, and direction; materially he was like an old mother, with large bundles and small bundles of things to eat and to use—very unlike what a leading brother would do, which moved people and was unforgettable. His care for the brothers and sisters was thorough in every detail; his spiritual teaching and his guidance for daily life—in a foreign land a thousand miles away, he even had to serve the great matter of the brothers' and sisters' marriages. The virtues of his humanity were a living testimony.
Therefore, since we also have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and run with endurance the race which is set before us.
