An Enlarged Vision, a Rigorous Service
A Selfless Giving, Building in Oneness
At the recovery bread-breaking meeting in Hamburg on February 23 this year, he said, "It would be very good for you to go visit the local saints again this time." This time, breaking bread with thanksgiving at the churches in Hamburg and Munich (which I had visited two and a half years before), I was deeply moved; after the meeting I fellowshipped warmly with the saints, full of joy, seeing them strong in spirit, enjoying the Lord, with increase, with growth, and willing to bear burdens—I was greatly encouraged. Not only have both these places, cared for by the church in Taipei, already become established churches, but I also saw that the Lord is a God who acts strenuously, His move in many cities advancing rapidly; our horizon was opened and enlarged.
These two days I looked again at the messages of my conversations with him; they were often very short, yet always made one feel secure, such as "Amen, that's fine, thank you, come find me first, you fellowship and decide…." Once in the morning he only sent a Line message telling me to come to Hall One in an hour to fellowship with more than ten serving ones from out of town, asking me to reply quickly. By the time I saw the message and hurried over, I was a little late; everyone was sitting neatly in suits waiting for me—it was truly a close call! I said to my wife, coordinating with Brother Wu means being ready at any moment, being on call.
I still remember once, many years ago, we arranged to fellowship at Hall One; when he came in, it was already past 11 at night, and he said, "I've been in this one shirt and tie, out serving from morning until just now coming home." Sometimes after 10:30 at night he would call, asking me to coordinate with a certain brother as general manager for a four-day training beginning the next morning. He was truly diligent, caring for the building up of God's house day and night!
In 2000, just back from Russia, he said, "You serve in the central district of Taipei City." Later, for a while my asthma recurred, and in 2006 he said, "You change your environment first, get your body well; we still want to send you out." During my time in Kaohsiung, Brother Wu mentioned, "Brother Wu asks about you from time to time." In 2013 I was transferred back to Taipei, and at a service meeting he said, "Lian Qingyang was originally sent out from our central district; now he has come back to coordinate." Actually it had been more than ten years since I was last in the central district; he always gave people the feeling that the brothers were coordinating in oneness.
