The Churches Throughout Taiwan — The Training Center, the Five-Year Gospelization of Taiwan, and the Middle-Aged Perfecting Training
Brother Chen Tao (陳濤): The middle-aged training began in March 2004; this too was a burden upon Brother Wu's heart. He saw that there were many middle-aged saints in the church who hungered to love the Lord and to pursue Him, and that if they could be gathered together to redeem the time—being equipped in the truth, exercised in their character, regulated in their daily living, and learning to coordinate in the service—they would surely become vessels useful to the Lord. After completing a year of training, they would return to the various localities, that they might become a blessing to the churches. This was Brother Wu's dream.
Therefore, at every commencement and graduation meeting of the middle-aged training, he would, as much as he was able, come in person to supply and encourage the trainees. Each time he came to the middle-aged training and saw the progress and effectiveness of the training in every aspect, he was filled with comfort and encouragement. I remember that at the graduation meeting in the second year, he said, "I hope that the training here can turn decay into wonder; today this has truly been greatly fulfilled. It really is different—I see that this training is full of God's presence." The middle-aged training at last brought Brother Wu's dream into fulfillment.
Because Brother Wu inherited this ministry's burden for the training, he encouraged the trainees to study the Collected Works of Witness Lee every day and to enter into the riches of the ministry publications, so as to raise up among all the churches an atmosphere of pursuing the truth, that everyone might hunger to be constituted with the truth and become a propagator of the truth.
The serving ones of the middle-aged training, being co-workers with the ministry, all served with fear and trembling, watchful in prayer, with their whole heart and strength, not daring to be slack. Brother Wu himself was a pattern: for the training in the Lord's recovery and for the need of all the churches, he poured out his all, even disregarding his own life—what a bold and valiant spirit! Now our dear brother has finished his course in this life and is forever with the Lord whom he loved, but the pattern and the footsteps he left for us throughout his life are worthy of our learning and our close following.
