Caring for the Saints in Love
Able to Approve the Things Which Are More Excellent
Just as Philippians chapter one says, Brother Wu, in full knowledge and all discernment, cared for the saints in love and was able to approve the things which are more excellent and different!
Every time I fellowshipped with Brother Wu, it brought the peace and refreshment of the Lord's presence, causing me again and again to know deeply that the church is the house of the living God, and that Jesus is Lord.
Brother Wu was truly a faithful and good steward through whom the Lord continually had a way.
In this last half year, of my final three times of fellowship with Brother Wu, two were in the dialysis center. Although he was undergoing dialysis at the time, his spirit was very good, his eyes bright, his voice gentle yet resounding. He said: I now have to undergo dialysis three times every week, but it is no hindrance; it is just that I can no longer go to places too far away, though I can still go to the United States—I undergo dialysis in Taiwan, board the plane, and after landing in the United States I go to undergo dialysis again, and the itinerary after dialysis is not too greatly affected.
When I heard him speak this way, my heart was truly opened wide and bright. Brother Wu was indeed a good pattern of running the heavenly race; he was full of heavenly motivation, strong and pioneering in his spirit!
Then he paused for a moment, and immediately, smiling and very assured, said to me: This year you are fifty years old; you still have twenty years to strive.
Last week, when I learned the news of Brother Wu's passing, only then did I realize that Brother Wu was, this year, seventy years old.
In these final three times of fellowship, what Brother Wu was concerned for was the Lord's move on the earth; he was concerned for the children of God scattered abroad. When I mentioned to him the matter of needing to learn German well, he nodded with weighty and earnest words, saying that learning German well is very useful, because then one can visit many saints. In all his talk, what was continually expressed was that on his heart he held the Lord's sheep....
Brother Wu was, in God's economy, a good shepherd who actually shepherded the Lord's sheep; his service cared for the Lord's move on the earth and cared for the true need of the children of God.
