Fellowshipping with the Churches Overseas, Serving All God's Children with the Riches of the Ministry

Brother Ouyang Jiali (歐陽家立): In 1998 Brother Wu took the lead to launch the Fountain of Life broadcast, hoping that the great number of saints in mainland China could listen to the broadcast without limit of distance and receive the supply of life. Following this, Brother Wu also led the brothers in the gospel work to go and fellowship, so that the co-workers might understand more of the situation and needs of mainland China. Brother Wu could be called an expert on the mainland; he was thoroughly familiar with its history and geography, and whenever he met the brothers and sisters from the various places he was as warm with them as with old friends, and everyone loved to invite him to come and visit. Thus it continued until 2006, when the Lord again prepared a place suitable for holding a week-long blending meeting. The brothers and sisters from all over mainland China signed up one after another, the co-workers from Taiwan and the co-workers from Hong Kong coordinated together, and the blending among the various places advanced yet a step further. Brother Wu deeply loved the brothers and sisters of the mainland; whenever his time and physical strength allowed, he accepted invitations to go and visit them. When he went to Jiangsu he said he was a man of Jiangsu; when he went to Fujian he said he was a man of Fujian; he was truly one to whom all within the four seas were brothers and sisters. At the International Chinese-speaking Conference in the new spring of 2006, because of his encouragement, the saints of the mainland also came to Taiwan to attend; after several times, the mainland saints who came to attend the conference surpassed one thousand.

After 2004, because of the opening of travel between the two sides of the strait, more and more brothers and sisters from the churches in mainland China also came to Taiwan to blend. When they saw the open testimony of the churches in Taiwan, the open meeting halls, and the prominently displayed gospel signboards, in their admiration they hoped that the brothers overseas could help them in this regard. Brother Wu also complied with the request of the churches in the mainland, accompanying them in their efforts. Following this, because the government authorities in charge of religious affairs in the mainland also wished to understand the faith of the church, they organized groups one after another to come and understand the development of Christianity in Taiwan and the history and present situation of the church in Taiwan, so as to help them understand that the church is not a heresy or an evil cult. In this way, until the "Cross-Strait Christianity Forum" held in 2013, this work of communication and exchange bore a beautiful fruit, and the churches in mainland China gradually became able to set forth our faith openly. As for the visiting groups that came from the mainland, Brother Wu always led the brothers in receiving them with generous warmth, and even in sickness and pain he would strive to participate in person. And because of this, he naturally entered into broadened contact with many Christian friends in Taiwan, such as the Cross-Strait Exchange Association, the Christian Literature Association, the Forum Newspaper, and others. In addition, regarding Christian book exhibitions and the like, he was always willing for the gospel bookroom to participate.

Brother Wu also coordinated seamlessly with the brothers serving in the Defense and Confirmation Project (DCP). Under Brother Wu's full support, in all such matters—the 2007 holding in Taiwan and Hong Kong of "Viewing the Orthodox Faith of the Chinese Church from the Perspective of History, Theology, and Apologetics"; the 2008 invitation of a director from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in the mainland to come to Taiwan to lecture on "The Relation of Christianity to Contemporary Chinese Society"; the 2009 "Heritage of the Revelation" forum in Hong Kong (on the relationship between the ministries of Witness Lee and Watchman Nee); the 2010 forum on religious law; the 2013 forum in Hong Kong on "The Development of an Indigenized Christian Theology in China"; the 2015 symposium on religion and the rule of law in Beijing, and so forth—Brother Wu always personally accompanied the ones serving in the DCP, from Taiwan to the mainland, to Southeast Asia, to Singapore, to Indonesia, and even to Israel, so that scholars outside might understand the Lord's recovery. He knew that the Lord's recovery is the recovery of the truth, and that if we are silent in the defense and confirmation of the truth, we are tacitly acknowledging the enemy's distortion of the truth; therefore in the service of defending and confirming the truth he also spared no effort.
